Kanye West performed in Drake’s place last nigh at the Wireless festival, and decided to honor the rapper in his absence by playing a few of his hits.
Drake regrettably pulled out of his headlining slot at The Wireless festival this week, explaining that he was not well enough to make the date. Luckily, festival organizers were able to come up with a suitable replacement for Drizzy– the always entertaining Kanye West.
Ye’s performance (much like the one the day before) was full of the colorful commentary and flashy imagery we’ve come to expect from West, but a short Drake tribute mid-set came as a welcome surprise.
Yeezy let a few of the rapper’s well-known hits ring out, while the crowd sang along to each and every word. Starting with “Trophies”, before moving on to “We Made It” and “All Me”, the audience was definitely grateful for the short intermission.
Drake himself was also pretty pleased with the results, shouting Kanye out on Instagram, and once again promising his fans that he will make up for his absence. Check out his full post, as well as footage from the show below.
Man I appreciate Kanye playing Trophies at Wireless so much. I want to be at all the shows more than anything in the world right now. I just keep watching the video over and over. Slow motion for me right now but I promise all the fans an incredible experience as soon as I am back. I am so sorry once again I love you all dearly. Thank you Ye for giving me that joy tonight.
