Kanye West Sued Over Sample In “Bound 2”

bound 2Kanye West is facing a lawsuit from a former child star over the sample used in “Bound 2.”

Kanye West’s “Bound 2” was definitely one of the more well-received tracks off Yeezus, thus Ye has gone ahead to push it as his next single. However, it looks like the track is facing some legal trouble, as a former child star is suing Yeezy over a sample.

56-year old Ricky Spicer filed a lawsuit yesterday in Manhattan Supreme Court which claims that Kanye used his vocals without his permission on the sample in “Bound 2.” Spicer is referring to his childhood group the Ponderosa Twins Plus One and their record “Bound” in which he was the lead vocalist, Rolling Stone reports.

Spicer apparently recorded the track and the now-familiar hook “fallin’ in love” when he was just 12-years old. The suit states, “Mr. Spicer’s voice is sampled exactly as he recorded it and his voice… is heard several times,”

Spicer is demanding that Mr. West pay up for the use of his vocals, or cease and desist with the single. record labels Roc-A-Fella Records, Universal Music Group, Island Def-Jam Music and Rhino Entertainment are also named as defendants in the lawsuit.
