West London based rapper Kao dropped what he has teased as the first part of a ‘Liability Jones’ triology when recently interviewed on Pyro Radio. The mixtape dropped on May 4th and has recieved some dope feedback already, with a recent live performance at Portobello Live showing that Kao has come to set the levels. Taking influence at a young age from the likes of Big Pun, Big L and Redman which has driven Kao to be a skilled lyricist that can adapt his style and flow to match the beat provided. The mixtape is a perfect showcase of Kao and his capability to make dope, real, lyrical hip hop – even if given a new school style beat Kao shows a true raw talent.
This mixtape has been carefully planned, or that’s the vibe you get when listening through as no matter what age hip-hop fan you are this mixtape has something for you. You have the raw, razor tongue, snap your neck ish with tracks like ‘Shut! It’ and then switch styles completely with the new school flavour filled tracks such as ‘Bastardtron 3000.’ Tracks also featuring on the ‘Liability Jones’ mixtape worth checking would be the chilled out dope banger ‘Flight School,’ for the hard bar, boom bap fans ‘Slickjaw’ is another super lyrical head nod anthem and then there’s the club banger to get everyone skanking ‘Say My Name.’
HWING rates this mixtape a solid 4.5 stars, Kao is a passionate, hard-working, mad heavy rapper and with this first mixtape release these foundations will withstand any rictor scale quakes and if the trilogy goes ahead we can expect an EP and album to follow shortly.
