Grammy-award winning artist Elijah Blake teams up with underground producer Ben Strick for their latest musical project titled KaraJishi.
A mix of Elijah’s R&B side with Ben’s experimental/prog-rock and metal influences,KaraJishi is pushing the boundaries of music by incorporating unusual combinations of genres, instrumentation and sonic textures.
The duo is releasing a five-song LP called Realm in early 2018. The first single, “Give Up The Ghost” is a brilliant 4-minute track that showcases the supernatural abilities of both Ben and Elijah together.
“This track Give Up the Ghost was our first track we collaborated on together in Chicago. We wanted to write a song about how invincible you can feel when you’re younger, and how it you never want to let that freedom or those feelings die – hence ‘we won’t give up the ghost’. Even though you know in the back of your head that one day it’s gonna be time to face reality and grow up, you don’t let it stop you from taking advantage of the present. We think it’s a feeling a lot of people can relate to, or hopefully remember. We were writing with a college crowd in mind and had a interesting time coming up with the lyrics. We had to balance out what I knew from my more traditional college experience with Elijah’s interpretation of what college is like, since he went straight into his music career after high school. It ended up being a funny but productive learning experience for both of us.”
