With Straight Outta Compton making its worldwide release Friday, Kendrick Lamar – one of the biggest artist in hip-hop, who happens to be from Compton – interviews N.W.A – one of the biggest influences in hip-hop ever, who just so happen to be from Compton as well – on behalf of Billboard.
The artists covered topics from the hardest part of learning the business of music, who they like out of the new school, how N.W.A changed hip-hop (or as Ice Cube says, how they changed pop culture) and also, about their album Straight Outta Compton itself.
Dr. Dre summed up why N.W.A started and pushed to be as original as possible: “We do it for the love of the music. If you treat her right, she’ll treat you right.”
This was a really cool interview in the fact that Kendrick seemed like an everyday dude with insightful questions, and after the first minute or so, the interview seemed genuine. Watch it below.
