Now free from Cash Money, the focus for Lil’ Wayne and his hardcore fans has been the myth that is Tha Carter V. Weezy F. Baby’s long-awaited album has been locked away since it was first announced in 2012. After his much publicized legal battle with Birdman and Cash Money Records, the New Orleans superstar has been waiting for the right time to unleash C5 to the world. On Tuesday (Sept. 25), the Young Money general announced the much anticipated C5 will arrive on his birthday of September 27 (Thursday at midnight, technically Friday). In a three-minute trailer on the newly launched thacarterv.com, Lil’ Wayne reveals the release date while walking through his Miami studio compound.
“Since y’all stuck with me and hung in there anyway…I will be releasing Tha Carter V on my birthday,” said Wayne. “If you don’t know when my birthday is, Wikipidia does. Wiki me bi**h.” Fans can also pre-order Tha Carter V on the website, available in various digital bundled packages.
