Lil Wayne Talks Young Thug, TIDAL Deal, “Free Weezy Album” & More
On the heels of Free Weezy Album and the “Lil Weezyana Fest” announcement, Lil Wayne did his first radio interview in a very very long time. Calling into Wild Wayne on New Orleans’ Q93, the Young Money boss reflected on everything surrounding his persona in a 30-minute conversation with the host.
During the interview, Wayne addressed his ongoing feud with Young Thug and the Carter 6 situation. Tunechi made it clear he would have appreciated Thugga’s decision to take the torch by himself “if he said it’s from the heart and he said that he’s some kind of fan.”
When Slime came out and said I’m naming my album [Carter 6], I had to be some kind of monster to just overlook that. I’m not that type of person. My mama didn’t raise me [that way]. If he said it’s from the heart and he said that he’s some kind of fan, then I love him. Thank you, bro. I appreciate everything about it if he’s a fan.”
Among the other topics Wayne elaborated on were Hot Boys’ early years and their upcoming reunion at the Weezy-organized festival, him turning from an artist into a businessman, getting introduced to Nicki Minaj and Drake, his TIDAL deal, and much more. As far as his legal war with Cash Money and Birdman, he was not able to shed any light on it. Stream the entire interview further below.
