Bay Area alt-pop singer and songwriter Lily Elise is releasing her new single, “Palm Trees,” a mesmerizing alternative pop ballad. Listen and share the song here.
The song was produced by Jeeve and co-written by Soaky Siren, who she worked with on “I Don’t Know Why” and “Suitcases” from her OLIVER EP.
“Most people move to LA for the same reason, to chase dreams,” said Elise. “I think people come out here with good intentions, to give their art to the world…and then somewhere along the line you realize you gotta further your name in order to further your art, and so you start doing that…and then you kinda get lost in that hustle and forget about furthering your art. You start kissing asses and doing what people tell you you needa do to get ahead…but at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you like yourself. So ‘Palm Trees’ is kinda about saying ‘just do you’ and ‘fuck it’ to the game.”
That’s exactly what Lily’s been doing for the past four years – honing her craft, and creating and delivering new music to fans. Most recently, Lily released her most celebrated track to date, “Let Me Down,” featuring artist duo MADE IN LA (367k Spotify plays). From the reveled success of the single, fans can now hear the track on Shazam and in all H&M stores worldwide, and other retail outlets.
Throughout her career, Lily has been featured in Billboard, Perez Hilton, PopCrush, PopWrapped, DJBooth, Soul Train, Kick Kick Snare, Consequence of Sound, as well as Hype Machine outlets, All Things Go, EARMILK, Crack in the Road, Indie Shuffle, PressPLAY, Wonky Sensitive, Highclouds, Abstraction Radiation, Future Classics, Going Solo, The Autumn Roses, and glamglare, to name a few.
Lily Elise is an independent alt-pop artist from the Bay Area. Influenced by a multitude of artists and genres, Elise pulls from each of those when writing songs, creating a unique blend of music that doesn’t live in one specific genre. Her music has been referred to as a “mesmerizing mix of … edgy pop, R&B, or even EDM” by Billboard, and “a stunning combination of pop and R&B that few can pull off” via All Things Go. Elise loves collaborating with artists from a variety of genres, which has allowed her to write for and/or feature on songs with artists such as Dillon Francis, Twin Shadow and Felix Cartal, as well as performing with legendary former Eagles frontman Don Henley. Elise began her musical journey singing in a cappella groups, eventually finding herself on Season 1 of a then-unknown vocal competition show, The Voice. Being a contestant on the show made the young artist realize she needed to have her own voice, driving her to start writing. Solely drawing from her personal experiences, writing songs has become a form of therapy for Elise, who pours her heart and soul into each and every line. Releasing her music completely independently, Elise states, “I don’t do music for money or attention. I just want to connect with people and make them feel something.”
