Honest and soulful, Hewan’s voice is reminiscent of icons India Arie, Lauryn Hill and Brandy. Pulling from genres of acoustic, electronic, and pop, the Bay Area Native experiments with her sound and style and keeps her songwriting raw and uncut. Three years ago, amidst her father’s life-altering diagnosis, Hewan, began writing what has now become a deeply personal and poignant album on love, loss, heartache, and growth. The album, Blossom, was named after her late father whose name means “bloom” in Amharic (an Ethiopian language).
Resilient, authentic and fresh, Hewan’s talent inspires a nostalgia of soul with a contemporary twist. Blossom, is lyrically sincere, original and will take you on a journey of poetic storytelling. It is an imaginative and unique musical vibe, that will touch your senses and your spirit. “Dope” is the second single off of Hewan’s forthcoming album Blossom and was produced by Devin O’bannon. “Strip For Me” was the first taste of the project.
