M.I.A. is out to make a statement with “Borders.” While the Western world flocks to shopping malls to snap up those Black Friday deals, M.I.A. sends out a reminder about Europe’s refugee crisis in the self-directed video for her latest single. From walking on water to wearing a PSG jersey with the Fly Emirates logo replaced with “Fly Pirates,” the video is filled with plenty of powerful and political imagery. The song isn’t half bad, either.
“Borders” will appear on M.I.A.’s upcoming album Matahdatah, due next year.
