Meek Mill and Jay-Z have taken their relationship to the next level by partnering to launch Meek Mill’s full-fledged record label, Dream Chasers Records.
The deal was signed on Tuesday in presence of a small media gathering at Roc Nation’s New York offices. Meek will be heading the label and will work on finding new talent to sign to the venture. The label will work on talent acquisition, creative strategy and marketing, among other operations. Meek had previously established Dream Chasers Records as an imprint in 2012 under the umbrella of Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group.
“I think the time is now,” Meek told Rollingstone about the deal. “I’m 32 years old, I’m in a nice spot in the music business and I think it’s time for me to focus on growing artists because that’s what I love to do. I love to spend time on helping artists grow, and I think it’s time for me to dive in, business-wise.”

Meek will oversee a team in a New York office and also help operate a recording studio for the label’s artists. “We come from the same neighborhoods, we are the few who made it through,” Jay-Z said to press at the signing. “That responsibility is not lost on us. We have not made it to this point to just irresponsibly live our life. It’s a responsibility we have to the entire culture.”
