Monkey is another artist who is constantly looking to innovate. His style is something you just simply have to hear yourself, as it ebbs and flows between genres so seamlessly. An accomplished artist with many an album to his name, he starts the year with the melancholic yet euphoric single ‘Fell in the Deep’. The melancholy is the firs 40 seconds or so, and it is simply stunning. The beautiful piano that’s played, you almost don’t want it to end among Moonkay’s soft spoken word, before the song then changes mood so quickly.
It’s a dark build that leads up to more rhymes and words by Moonkay before a sinister vocal effect takes over the track completely. But this is where he takes his shape and separates himself from the norm, as the song goes into an almost trance like space, filled with airy synths before dropping back out again.
It’s a simply brilliant concoction of many things from Moonkay and the video also tells it’s own story alongside. Be sure to check this out before it passes you by.
