Naira Marley & Zlatan Arrested For Fraud, One Week After Dropping “Am I A Yahoo Boy”

It wasn’t supposed to go down this way for Naira Marley and Zlatan on the week “Am I Yahoo Boy” hit the intercontinental scene with a running start. The two Afrobeats up-and-comers are facing criminal charges that are so far removed from the realities depicted in their music.

According to the Nigerian press, Feez Fashola (Naira Marley) and Temidayo Omoniyi (Zlatan), were arrested on Friday due to their alleged connection to a money laundering scheme. They also stand accused of committing internet fraud, although it’s uncertain in what capacity they offered their services to the other schemers. Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission claims they are in possession of “unspecified” items that linking both Marley and Zlatan to the web of cybercrime.”At the point of arrest, the Commission found and recovered a number of items, including laptops from the suspects. They have so far volunteered useful information about their involvement in the alleged criminal activities, even as investigations continue,” reads the statement issued by the EFCC.
