Napoleon Gold — Lucid Feat. Jalen Santoy & Madge

Napo Jalen Santoy & Madge

Hailing from Luxembourg, producer Napoleon Gold has made major waves with his ability to bring together the perfect collaborators for luminous RnB-influenced electronica.

Napoleon’s work is animated by sun-kissed feel of a mythic LA, a quiet storm summed up the title of the new record announced today Sunset Motel and its lead single Lucid ft. Jalen Santoy and Madge.

As he explains Sunset Motel is a place “between awake and asleep, between reality and fiction. Most of the time, I’ll go to the Sunset Motel when I think too much and dwell on the past and future, and sometimes when I’m out partying late and ‘forget’ to go sleep. It’s full of memories from my childhood, with traces of music my parents used to listen to at home or in the car (Sade, The Blue Nile, Marvin Gaye).”

With Lucid he invites you to take your first step into the building. The single featuring fast-rising North Carolina rapper Jalen Santoy and LA pop songstress Madge. It’s a dreamy ode to the clarity of the early hours, a kaleidoscopic laid-back groover marking him out as a major new signing to independent label Cinematic Group (previously behind releases from Joey Bada$$, Mick Jenkins and Smoke DZA).

Featured rapper Jalen Santoy was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Santoy’s journey started at the age of 15, when he released his first record God, which caught the attention of rapper Big Pooh. As a result of their collaborative work, Jalen began receiving recognition from platforms like XXL early in his career. To date his biggest single Foreplay has tallied over 80 million + streams and he’s gearing up to drop a new project this year. Singing on the track is 2019’s top pop contender Madge. Coming off the back of 2018’s well-received self-produced Fight or Flight Club EP which saw her spikey hyper-active songs acclaimed in magazines like Hunger and Complex.

Masterminding the blend of talents from the worlds of rap and alt-pop to pull together this slinky low-riding tune, Napoleon has created electronic gold.
