Nas and Erykah Badu Team Up For A Powerful, Cinematic New Track: “This Bitter Land.”
“The Land,” a film that should be of interest to hip-hop lovers, hits theaters this Friday, July 29. The film will arrive with a star-studded hip-hop soundtrack, and today, two persons heavily involved in “The Land” have released a notable collaboration off said soundtrack. Nas, the executive producer of “The Land,” and Erykah Badu, who acts in the film, have teamed up for a track called “This Bitter Land.” It arrives two days after Machine Gun Kelly’s “Dopeman” premiered as the first song off the soundtrack.
“This Bitter Land” lives up to its title, as Nas provides a detailed account of the institutional trappings of inner-city poverty. Badu’s singing channels all the pain of “The Land” but ultimately provides a sense of hope. The song presumably reflects the struggle of the young Cleveland minorities that will be the subject of the film. Check out the tracklist of the soundtrack here.
