New Music: Meadowhip — “Am I Broken”

Meadowhip

The new single by Meadowhip, “Am I Broken,” is moody, thought-provoking, and witty. It is a snappy take on what it’s like to be “the troublesome one” in any personal relationship.
With hypnotic bass lines, daring keys, and lo-fi/hip hop-inspired beats, Am I Broken glides seductively. Meadowhip’s expressive vocals and alt-pop and R&B hooks drive the song, which is backed by layers of beautiful, airy harmonies and accented by hints of shimmering guitar and Sydney’s Tommy Gun’s 1940s-style trumpet.
The song began as a universal critique of carrying baggage to our relationships, and it was produced by neosoul queen Chelsea Warner. It was written as a group on a songwriting retreat with Sydney’s hub for young musicians, The Artist Studio.
