New York rapper 50 Cent hooked back up with his G-Unit team recently, connecting with Tony Yayo and others in Puerto Rico for a surprise performance.
Footage of the unannounced reunion landed across the Internet Wednesday (January 9).
50 Cent and his G-Unit compadres return today with something new for our viewing pleasures. The fellas recently took a trip down to Puerto Rico for an impromptu, surprise performance in the island nation. Before the fellas hit the stage they allow us to ride shotgun as they ride around the island checking out hot spots, females, and more. Before you know it, 50, Yayo, and the rest of the Unit hit the stage to give the PR fans exactly what they wanted, a dope show packed full of many of their hits. (Stupid Dope)
Back in November, G-Unit’s DJ Whoo Kid talked about trying to reunite 50 and estranged member Lloyd Banks.
“I mean I don’t even know man, I tried to like talk to them. Fif says he hasn’t heard from him, I don’t know man. They’re supposed to be cool, I don’t think there are any major problems. From what I know, they’re cool. They were all at Chris Lighty’s funeral. You will hear it from him (50). He will give you the view points on Banks and the whole situation with the Unit. But from what I know, they’re cool. But 50 will let you know and explains the situation better.” (HHNM)
In September, Curtis Jackson updated fans on his relationship status with the Unit.
“I see [Tony] Yayo all the time. He actually comes through — he’ll pop up. We’ll do that, but away from it when we come home I be busy working on something and they supposed to be doing the music, writing the music,” 50 told Ang. “Now it’s like I think I’ve enabled them. I’ve damaged that by being so close to it that they just go. Their way of dealing with things is not dealing with it so you can have people that work for you who you work for because they’re just waiting for you to do it. Or you don’t say anything and there’s no urgency — I don’t talk to them. We’re still friends, it’s just the relationship is different. We grown – the issues came up where that they feel like it’s hard for them to be the man while I’m around.” (“The Angie Martinez Show”)
Last May, the rap executive revealed he had not talked to Banks in nearly a year.
“He goes through these things where there’s no communication and he goes off and does what he wants, it’s set at that point because I’ve spent marketing dollars so he can go wherever he wants to go and actually go do shows, make money and do other things,” 50 told radio host Big Boy. “At that point, it’s fine for him to move around and go do it by himself. I want them to be individuals and operate on their own away from me, I’m fine with it. … We can get on the phone together, but I haven’t spoken to him. I haven’t spoken to Banks in nine months. But this is not the first time this has happened. He’s a baby. He’s the youngest in the actual G-Unit, he got really rich at 19. Both him and Tony [Yayo] have made over nine million dollars. With [Young] Buck, it was almost eight million dollars.” (Power 106)
