NEWS: DA BRAT OUTTA JAIL, “[SHE’S] FINALLY HOME”

So So Def’s Da Brat has finally completed jail time for a crime dating back to 2007 according to friend/producer Jermaine Dupri.
Breaking the news via Twitter, Jermaine announced Da Brat’s freedom publicly.
“Happy day for me and all SO SO DEF fans,Da BRAT is finally home,” JD tweeted Monday (February 28).
“for everybody wanting to holler DA BRAT hit her up on GLOBAL14.COM right now @brat and welcome her back” (Jermaine Dupri’s Twitter)
In late May, Da Brat was freed from behind bars on a work release program.
Female rapper and celeb reality TV star Da Brat, who is nearing the end of a three year prison sentence for smashing a bottle across a woman’s face back in October 2007, has been released from prison on awork release program. The 2007 incident started when Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris got into an argument with a waitress in an Atlanta-area club owned by record producer mogul Jermaine Dupri. A shouting match between Da Brat and the waitress escalated into shoving and witnesses testified that the rapper then picked up a rum bottle and hit the worker across the face with it, leaving the woman with permanent facial scars. She reportedly maintained a day job during the work release program.
While she has plans to return to music with a new mixtape and album, her temporary job is making windows. “I’m out on a lil’ pass; I had to do some lawyer, attorney stuff,” she said in an episode of Jermaine Dupri’s “Living the Life” vlog. “I got a job. I work a 9 to 5 because I’m in the work release program. I make windows, so if ya’ll need a window, holla at your girl.” (Rap-Up)
In late 2009, JD defended his decision not to visit Da Brat during her jail stint.
“I spoke to her via letters back and forth and she’s good. She’s ready to come home and do what she gotta do,” Jermaine Dupri told V-103’s Ryan Cameron. “We are basically on the move to try and get her out…Those [critics], they don’t really know me like that to say nothing about what I’m doing with my personal situation with Da Brat. When Brat come home, I am going to be the person that takes care of her and make sure she gets back on her feet and do what she gotta…that’s just like everybody talking about Tiger Woods. We know nothing about the situation and everybody should shut up…I felt a certain way about seeing Brat in jail. That’s my little sister and I don’t really want to deal with that situation like that. I would prefer dealing with getting her out and seeing that day as opposed to going to see her…only reason I am saying this on the air is because I explained this to Brat. In my letter, I let her know the same thing.” (V-103)
