NEWS: FUNKMASTER FLEX SAYS NICKI MINAJ’S LOST THE STREETS, “I’M GONNA RUIN A CAREER”

Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex has reportedly taken the side of fellow radio personality Peter Rosenberg in light of Sunday night Summer Jam remarks catching fire to the Young Money family by publicly getting at Nicki Minaj.

Although he did not specifically name-drop Minaj, reports claim Funk Flex took ample shots at the platinum-selling rapper following her Summer Jam no-show.

Nicki Minaj’s no-show at Summer Jam tonight was far from lost on Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex. In between shouting out Jersey a lot, the DJ alluded to rappers being “afraid” to take the stage. MetLife Stadium remained packed from the floor to the top risers as Flex continued to launch digs at Minaj, saying it’s her fault she “lost the streets.” “You think you didn’t sell any records this time??” he taunted. “Tune in to me tomorrow at 7 o’clock,” Flex continued. “I’m gonna ruin a career.” Then he got back to his high-energy set: “Add me on Twitter right now @FunkmasterFlex!” (Star-Ledger)

Flex also got on Twitter and proclaimed his loyalty to Rosenberg.

“@NICKIMINAJ don’t end up on that #Hot97SummerJam screen. <— @funkmasterflex is not playing.,” Flex retweeted Sunday (June 3).

“@Rosenbergradio hot97!!! For life!!!!!!” (Funkmaster Flex’s Twitter)

Last night, Minaj confirmed she would not appear at Summer Jam, despite being one of the show’s main headliners.

“Not blak but on blak radio dissin blak women > RT @JAE_MILLZ Radio personality with NO personality… f*ck n*gga!!! & u ain’t even black…,” she tweeted.

“I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes.”

“I’d like to thank the staff @ philly & boston summer jams for treating their guests w/respect! Had a blast.” (Nicki Minaj’s Twitter)

According to reports, Lil Wayne’s pulling of his Young Money team was the result of Rosenberg calling out Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” anthem.

Hmmmm..what happened in those few short hours to make Wayne pull the plug? Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg made a comment that Young Money wasn’t too fond of while on air during the pre-show to the effect of, “Shout out to all my real hip-hop heads and none of these Starship artists” So, how does this affect the show? Out of the entire YMCMB crew only Nicki Minaj and Tyga were confirmed to perform (although Nicki inevitably would have brought the whole family out with her.) Tyga has already taken the stage and performed his set, but he will be the last of the Young Money crew who makes an appearance. (Global Grind)
