Rap mogul Jay-Z got an opportunity to boast about his Brooklyn Nets following their Monday (November 26) night win against fellow New York rival Knicks shortly after the game.
Jay, who also sat in attendance with wife Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, made sure to let the Knicks know his team is capable of going toe-to-toe with anyone.
Jay-Z’s 99 problems apparently don’t include the Knicks. At least not anymore. “The city is under new management,” the rap mogul tweeted after Monday’s 96-89 overtime victory over the Knicks. The Nets are now 3-0 with the minority owner in attendance. He watched courtside next to his superstar wife, Beyonce. Richard Gere and Michael Strahan were also at the Barclays Center. Despite the impressive win in Brooklyn, Nets point guard Deron Williams downplayed snatching up a big “W.”
“This is what they talked about, this is what they visualized,” Williams said after scoring 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the field, with six rebounds. “This was a playoff-type atmosphere. It was a great game to be a part of.” (SLAM Online)
Both Jay and his Bey watched the team’s home opener in early November.
Beyonce and her hubby Jay-Z attend the Brooklyn Nets home opener at the Barclays Center on Saturday (November 3) in Brooklyn, N.Y. The 31-year-old singer and the 42-year-old rapper watched from the front row as the Nets beat the Toronto Raptors 107-100. The Nets initially got slated to play the Knicks, however, Hurricane Sandy forced the rescheduling.
They were scheduled to open Thursday against the Knicks, but that was postponed at the request of Mayor Michael Bloomberg because travel to Barclays Center would have been difficult and perhaps dangerous with so much of the city’s mass-transit system not operating. (Boston Herald)
