NEWS: JAY-Z’S “99 PROBLEMS” IMPRESSES HIS POLITICAL CONNECTS [VIDEO]

Rap mogul Jay-Z has become a staple in daily conversation, even to the extent of politics as seen in new video footage with the Florida House of Representatives quoting his “99 Problems” record this week.

The clip landed online Friday (March 9) and features Hov’s record getting fully embraced by a Florida representative.

Holy sh*t, this video is so awkwardly hilarious that it’s probably the best random music-related clip of the day. While on the floor of the Florida House of Representatives, Rep. Alan B. Williams attempted to win over his cohorts by citing lyrics from Jay-Z’s “99 Problems.” But when he does so, he wrongly refers to Hov as the one stating “Aren’t you sharp a tack? Are you a lawyer or somethin’?”. Thankfully Rep. Dean Cannon is there to correct him and make this that much funnier/bizarre. (Prefix Mag)

Last December, Young Hov showed off his political wit during a CNN interview.

“I think me personally, I wouldn’t mind paying more taxes if it went to things that really mattered,” Jay said in an interview. “If it went to education and people in poverty, if it went to the right things, I wouldn’t mind. I think it should be clearly defined where all the money is being allocated. … [With Occupy Wall Street], I think it’s saying a lot all over the world that people can get their voice out there and fight for a better world. I support all sorts of movements. There are so many different fights that we must take on – education and health care and poverty. It’s good that young people are getting out and getting their voice heard, especially in this time of social media where that argument on the block or that thing that takes place in a small place — is being viewed globally. You’re really getting to recognize the power of your voice.” (CNN)

Known for having a relationship with United States President Barack Obama, Hov gave his assessment of the nation’s leader last fall.

“I still think he is the best man for the job,” Jay said in an interview. “Yes, I think he got a raw deal and a bad economy. You wouldn’t be given anything you can’t handle so he must be really special, because he has a lot of work to do!” (E! Online)

In August, Jay named President Obama the second coolest person in the world next to him.

“The president is like the second coolest person in the world,” Jay said in an interview with Angie Martinez on August 1st, jokingly naming himself the first. “[Next to?] I mean, come on. Don’t make me say it, Ang. [laughs] Don’t make me say it Angie. [Does he react?] Yeah. Yeah, he’s very humble. Yes. It’s weird. I love it. [Do I react to him?] Definitely. [He’s the only one I react to,] off top [of my head.] 100 percent…Who you are puts a lot of pressure on regular relationships because it’s not a regular relationship. People begin to see you differently.” (Hot 97)
