NEWS: LIL WAYNE SAYS HE’S DELAYING ‘DEDICATION 4’ FOR 2 CHAINZ: “I REFUSE TO PUT ANY ATTENTION ON ME” [VIDEO]

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne is trying to settle fans down by explaining the reason behind delaying his highly-anticipated Dedication 4 mixtape and hinting at when it could possibly drop.

Wayne said this week’s release of longtime friend/rapper 2 Chainz’s Based On A T.R.U. Story has motivated him to temporarily shelve the mixtape.

“I know I was supposed to drop that Dedication 4 tonight – but listen, my homeboy 2 Chainz just dropped his album yesterday. That’s my real, real, real good homeboy right there and I refuse to put any attention on me when the spotlight, everybody’s eyes, everybody’s attention and everybody’s focus should be on my n*gga 2 Chainz’s album Based On A T.R.U. Story. So therefore I ain’t giving you b*tches Dedication 4 yet. I’ma give it to ya’ll in another week or so. But I ain’t gonna lie, I ain’t finished that motherf*cker. I’ve been skating and sh*t, falling and sh*t and all that type of sh*t, but I’ll give it to you like, next week. Stop trippin’ pimp.” (Bread Over Bed)

2 Chainz’s long-awaited LP is now slated to debut atop its competition.

Barry Weiss, Steve Bartels and company are as hot as the weather this summer, looking at a third hip-hop–and fourth overall–chart-topper on tap. Following Justin Bieber, then Nas and Rick Ross, comes Def Jam College Park, GA, rapper 2 Chainz’s Based on a T.R.U. Story, which is on target for a #1 debut next Tuesday, with sales in the 130-140k range. (HITS Daily Double)

Yesterday (August 15), Young Money president Mack Maine promised Wayne would address the mixtape delay.

“Announcement and something special will be delivered by @LilTunechi today….#stayTUNEd,” he tweeted August 15th.

The platinum-selling rap star recently explained what fueled the need for another Dedication project.

“I just felt like it was time. I got bored,” Weezy told DJ Drama when asked about the motivation behind his upcoming mixtape. “Being me, I always feel like I ain’t done nothing yet. So I’m always looking for the next thing ‘to do.’ Other than that, yeah, it does get pretty boring when it comes to just the rapping and all that type of stuff. I’ve done so much of it. I’ve been doing it since I was eight and I’m about to be thirty in September and I’m still rapping. I kind of feel like I’m getting old. [laughs]” (Drama Like The DJ)
