Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj’s “My Truth” reality series special aired last night (November 4) and featured the outspoken Barbie taking a jab at Mariah Carey plus revealing her initial doubts about joining “American Idol.”
In the first of the three-part special, heavy focus is placed on Minaj’s recently landed broadcast television gig.
Speaking in her new reality show ‘My Truth’, Nicki revealed: ‘I think Mariah met her match this time, and I don’t think she was expecting to meet her match. ‘I’m super nervous and anxious for the first day on ‘American Idol’. I’m still second guessing my decision. I’m probably going to be a hundred times guessing this decision because I’m human. It’s a big job.’ The outspoken rapper was true to her word and proceeded to have a meltdown because her new stylist had misjudged her taste in clothes mere hours before the first day of auditions, and she branded all her options ‘ugly’. The premiere also showed how stressed out Minaj got over the first day of “American Idol.”
Nicki raged: ‘I never have a look in mind. I know it when I see it. If you tell me to choose something when I’m anxious or nervous, then I’m going to find a problem with every single thing …This is 911. Dee-saster.’ The 29-year-old star still struggled to find her perfect look and rocked up late for her first day on the job to join Keith Urban, Randy Jackson and Mariah on the panel. She moaned: ‘Am I going to be an hour late or two hours late? Do they know literally how embarrassing this is. That I am going to be late for my first day.’ (Monsters & Critics)
Throughout the espisode, viewers get to witness just how hectic of a schedule the Young Money star endures day in and day out.
We watch Young Money’s first lady record her new single “Freedom,” and explain the meaning behind the reflective melodic song. After wrapping up in her Malibu, Ca studios, it’s crunch time to find an outfit for Idol which doesn’t go smoothly. After quick appearances on The View, and a meet-and-greet at Macy’s for her perfume launch, it’s back to California to film the video for “The Boys” with Cassie. An artist that demands perfection and takes no nonsense, Nicki faces a few hurdles as she preps for her first ever arena world tour. (Miss Info TV)
Last month, an “American Idol” producer addressed Minaj’s war of words with fellow judge Mariah Carey.
“American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe is adamant … the bitter feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj is as real as it gets — and his proof lies in simple logic. Nigel was out in L.A. yesterday when we asked for the final word — did he or did he not stage the feud for ratings??? — and Nigel replied, “I have no idea why I would be doing it [for ratings] five months before the show went out.” He added, “I would only do ANYTHING for ratings a month before the show went out. They’ve got my timing wrong.” Translation: keep your eyes out for a crazy “Idol” ratings ploy in three months. (TMZ)
