As previously promised, N.W.A reunited during the BET Experience. Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella got on stage together to perform for the first time in over two decades last night in Los Angeles. It was the first time Ice Cube performed with Yella since 1989 and with MC Ren since 2000.
Unfortunately, Dr. Dre didn’t show up due to an unknown reason. Sans the legendary producer, the three MCs performed the protest single “F*** Tha Police” and brought out Snoop Dogg for “Chin Check.” In addition to the lanky rapper, N.W.A also invited all four members of TDE’s Black Hippy – Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock – to join them.
N.W.A’s much talked-about biopic Straight Outta Compton will impact theaters on August 14th. MC Ren recently lashed out at Universal Pictures after he was not depicted him in the trailers for the motion-picture.
