Meek Mill’s hometown is honouring him with his own day.

Philadelphia has designated March 14 as “Meek Mill Day,” City Council President Darrell Clarke announced during Thursday’s city council meeting.

The Championships rapper, who is currently in town for his “Motivation Tour,” is being celebrated for his contributions to music and criminal justice reform, according to CBS Philly.

Meek was on hand to accept the honor alongside his son Papi and Sixers co-owner Michael Rubin at Philadelphia City Hall. “The one time that my City of Philadelphia showed me support was the one time I came out of prison and I want to show the support back and do it for the people that actually stood up for me,” said Mill. “That means a lot.”

Pennsylvania State Senator Sharif Street also honored Meek with a state level proclamation. The weekend of March 15 through March 17 has been declared “Meek Mill Weekend.”

The 31-year-old MC will perform two back-to-back shows on Thursday and Friday in his hometown as part of his “Motivation Tour,” which wraps March 24 in Atlanta.
