Following his acclaimed singles ‘Wrap Up The Ting’ and ‘Hardest’, West-London rapperPodgy Figures is back with his latest rave-ready track ‘Mad Ting’ featuring New Genaffiliate Bonkaz.
Teaming up once again with the legendary producer Zeph Ellis, formally known as Dot Rotten, the track kicks off with a minimally ominous synth line before ramping up the energy with an infectious new-age grime bassline and relentless drums. Without hesitation, Bonkaz comes straight in and wastes no time in riding the beat with his rapid flow and trademark wordplay – “cognac, whiskey, rum and vodka, still they’re nothing like my spirit.”Podgy’s instantly recognisable, gritty vocals are introduced on the infectious hook before showcasing his jovial, cheeky bars and unrelenting delivery.
The accompanying video, set in a London estate was directed by Jay Parpworth an up-and-coming film maker. A shot in front of a graffiti covered wall that reads “If you ain’t from round here…bounce”, feels rather poignant, as Podgy aims to expose and rid the game of fake MCs and cement himself as one of the top contenders.
