‘Diamonds’ was written and recorded in her native Canada, and is an incredible return to music following the release of her first EP, Glassbox Confessional, released last year. Now, with a growing fan base, Poesy is ready to show the world what she’s made of.
Inspired by her experiences, ‘Diamonds’ was born out of a deeply troubling time in Poesy’s (Sarah Botelho) past. It was during this period of self-reflection that the idea behind ‘Diamonds’ was conceived and subsequently brought to life, the healing which Poesy experienced writing the song is the same healing she hopes fans will get from listening to it.
“Diamonds is at its core, a song about experiencing a dark time and trying to drag yourself through to the other side. It’s about the pressure you put on yourself that leaves you with dark inner turmoil. I’ve dragged myself out of that countless times so I hope Diamonds can do that for someone else. I called it Diamonds because they’re a substance that is made under huge amounts of pressure, but they’re also so valuable – just like we are. So be gentle with yourself…” – POESY x
Gloriously encompassed in dark, mysterious and alluring melodies, ‘Diamonds’ is the intense, raw and glistening pop-rock anthem we have all been waiting for. Filled with thought-provoking imagery, disarmingly vulnerable lyricism and of course, Poesy’s show-winning vocals, Diamonds is both a treat for the ears and a cushion for the soul.
