Today, renowned East London rapper Potter Payper releases the highly anticipated mixtape ‘Training Day 3’.
Packed with 24 tracks, ‘Training Day 3’ comes as a trilogy to his Training Day Series, first released back in 2013. Much like its predecessors, this new project will mark a further body of work appreciated across the entire UK rap scene and serve as a reference point in UK rap history. “The training day trilogy is a story of me rising above adversity, every single one of the projects have been written in prison. It shows that even in dire situations, and I have been dealt some dirty hands in life, I control what I make of myself. This is going to be even more evident when you guys see my work rate and the projects I’m about to put out.” Potter says.
The mixtape is released alongside a new video for ‘Purpose’, which has already amassed almost 80,000 YouTube views in under twenty-four hours.
Potter returned in June with the release of his ‘2020 Vision Freestyle’ which peaked at #41 in the UK charts and has accumulated over 3million YouTube views to date. To no surprise and in true Potter form, ‘Purpose’ is fuelled with hard-hitting lyrics that pay homage to his past and embrace his hopes for the future. It is the third track lifted from the new project, following the release of ‘Round Here’ and ‘Science’ released just a week ago. The visual, directed by Potter himself, sees him take a stand against any unanswered questions and claim back control of his story.
Since his return in June, Potter has undoubtedly committed his time to breathing life back into the scene with his chilling hood tales and unmatched lyrical depth.
Across 24 tracks, Potter pilots us through his hiatus. He embraces his long-serving fans on ‘Sorry’, addresses his younger self on ‘When I was Little’ and fulfils a long-standing need for a Mover collaboration with ‘Streets’. The production heard across the tape comes courtesy from the likes of 5ive Beats, Da Beatfreakz and M1onthebeat.
