Following strong success and rave reviews for her latest single ‘Ooh Papi’, which garnered over 500,000 views on YouTube in under three months, and on the back of her monthly series of critically acclaimed Bedroom Covers albums, visuals for which have amassed over 9 million views on YouTube, our favourite New Jersey Pop princess ALUS is back with her brand new single titled ‘GIRL GANG’, accompanied by a beautiful and captivating visual affair, oozing with female energy and empowerment.
Written by the half Puerto Rican singer and songwriter, the infectious Latin-inspired future pop hit ‘Girl Gang’, will have you singing “girl gang, girl gang get it, girl gang, girl gang go” well before the song even comes to an end. On Alus’ ‘Girl Gang’, one thing is for sure, as her lyrics explain, inclusivity is the key, and all woman, of all races and origins, are welcome, as she sings, “my girl gang be so global, from LA to Tokyo, from NJ to Rio”, over the lush piano and horns-backed musical backdrop.
For the video for ‘Girl Gang’, Alus has linked up once again with director Prime Prodigy, who has previously worked with French Montana, Rae Sremmurd and Mike Will Made It, among others, to deliver a colourful and infectious visual offering, with a women-empowerment theme and imagery running through it. From its Tumblr-esque aesthetics to the girl power messaging to Alus’ gripping performance from start to finish, you will not be able to take your eyes off Alus and her ‘Girl Gang’ video.
Deeply inspired by her touring violinist grandmother, who attended the revered Juilliard, and performed with Frank Sinatra’sRat Pack, Alus has placed women empowerment and solidarity at the bedrock of her music. The Jersey native first broke into the scene in 2016 with her breakthrough singles ‘Talk It’ and the All Def Digital-signed ‘Ordinary Girl’, and has since been championed by the likes of Vibe Magazine, MTV Hits, Popdust, Idolator, Nicki Minaj and Big Sean, among others.
