Maltese, boy, girl electro-pop duo Berne release breathtaking visual to accompany their latest single ‘To The Lions’.
A gloriously soft, subtle alt-pop song layered with celestial, space-like synths. This tune has a haunting underlining sadness, expressed within the abstract lyrical content. A poignant animal rights anthem, this track is now perfectly paired with a stunning visual, set back in Malta and shot one warm winters day in December. It portrays the pair running freely through open fields against a back drop of green. A video which matches and amplifies the theme of the tune itself.
It is clear how much thought and effort went into not only the storytelling, but into each individual frame which is shrouded with a deeper meaning.
“The concept for the video is to try and represent distressed animals in a confined space (displayed by the frame behind us, and the close up shots) with dreams about being free (this is shown by the slightly zoomed out shots). As the video progresses, we keep edging closer and closer to freedom until we finally reach it, which is when the frame behind us doesn’t show anymore and all we see before us are beautiful fields.
