Biig Piig is back today with stunning new track ‘ Flirt’, which is available now. The 20-year-old singer and rapper also recently confirmed details of her first headline live show, which will take place at London’s Electrowerkz on April 17th in addition to early festival confirmations at the likes of Bestival, Love Saves The Day, and All Together Now. ‘Flirt’ precedes the launch of Biig Piig’s new single and her debut EP, ‘Biig Fan of The Sesh’, which will follow this spring.
Though its stripped-back beats, lilting keys, and warmly soulful mix of hip-hop, R&B, and jazz effortlessly evokes that first flush of feeling, ‘Flirt’ is in fact all about what goes on beneath the calm surface: those waves of anxiety and overthinking that come when you start to get close to someone, and the contrasts between public confidence and private caution.
Produced by Dylantheinfamous, ‘Flirt’ is an intoxicating introduction to Biig Piig’s forthcoming debut EP, entitled (brilliantly) ‘Big Fan Of The Sesh’ and also previewed today in its trailer. Conceived as the first of a trilogy of audio-visual stories mixing the deeply personal with the universal – in part centered around a character called Fran – here is an intimate and immersive dissection of that first doomed relationship, losing yourself in city life, but coming out the other side. “I’d hope,” says Biig Piig, “that anyone that feels they’re in a situation like that would find some solidarity in some of the tracks; understanding that you don’t owe anyone anything, and if you’re in a cycle that makes you unhappy, best believe you can change it compadre.”
