RADAR: Demi Grace “Come Closer” Video

Grace Abidemi Ayorinde (known as Demi Grace) is a Nigerian singer and model born in Manor Park, London. After moving to California at age six, most of her childhood was spent in the SF Bay Area where she grew up listening to everything from gospel to garage rock. The diversity of London and California shaped Demi’s early perspective on music and ultimately created her dance-pop sound. Her biggest inspiration and influence comes from Janet Jackson and Missy Elliot.

Grace made her debut in 2012 with her self-released single “Want You” which gained airplay in both Brazil and the US. This traction led to a distribution deal with Hitman Records (an indie label partnered with Universal Music Group Canada) under which she released her first studio album Forward Movement Only (FMO). The album was created with notable producers such as Lovy Longomba (Iggy Azaelea, K. Michelle, Tinie Tempah). Grace’s music has gained attention in the UK, Africa and the US. In 2016, “We Are Not Alone feat. Kimmy” (FMO) was placed in MTV’s The Real World Television Series and featured in the season’s Spotify playlist “Go Big or Go Home”. “Want You” (FMO) placed in the 2015 film Phantom Halo (starring X-Men actress Rebecca Romijn). She has performed as a back up dancer with Beyonce and made history as the first woman with dreadlocks in a major hair care ad campaign. Demi Grace continues to push boundaries in her music by fusing different styles of music with dance-pop and gives her fans music to move to.
