RADAR: Elena Flury Shares Her New Soulful Single “The Rose”

Elena Flury

Elena Flury is an up and coming artist based in London. Influenced by artists such as Erykah Badu, Norah Jones, Moonchild and D’Angelo, she puts her own spin on old school Neo-Soul.

Her debut single ‘The Rose’ talks about a relationship in which the boundaries and expectations have not been set, which results in one person taking their freedom too far. Even though the singer’s feelings are hurt, she pretends that she does not mind, stating in the chorus that “for as long as you feel you’ve got your heart in the right place” there would be no issue. It is in the verse that it becomes apparent that really she very much does mind, portraying the contrast between her inner and her outer expression. This shows in the music as the beginning of the song is rather melancholic and pensive but soon picked up by a bouncy rhythm section in the pre-chorus, and playing it lightsome in the chorus.

The song is led by jazzy chords and a soulful melody, leading through the different sections smoothly. Listen below or here.
