Khousion Rollyns is an American rapper/singer/producer hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana. The talented and versatile 19-year old identifies as “a hybrid hip-hop artist“, an artist with the upbringing and understanding of the streets and the soul of an R&B singer.
Khousion’s exposure to hip hop and music in general dates back to his infancy. He learned to sing watching and mimicking his mother, who at the time was supporting him and his fellow infant sister independently. She would regularly place him in a car seat aimed at the television, allowing hip-hop media staples like “106 & Park” and “Rap City” to entertain him. Even his childhood nickname was influenced by hip-hop: after witnessing his repeated excitement at the onscreen appearance of rap legend Snoop Dogg, Khousion’s sister, still too young to fully enunciate, dubbed him “Soopy”. To this day, those close to him still call him Soop. By 14, ‘Soop’ was penning his own bars. Rather than starting a journal as he was advised to get out his feelings and express himself, he preferred the creative outlet of rap to do so. He would eventually grow into a recording artist adept at entertaining and creative self-expression, donning the moniker “Khousion Rollyns”.
The name “Khousion” is also adopted from his childhood, affectionately given to him by his Creole Grandmother; it refers to a cajun-french word meaning “foolish”. Presently, Khousion is preparing multiple projects. He is set to release two EP’s in the coming year (“Who Is Khousion Rollyns” Vol. 1 & Vol. 2), as well as his full-length debut, “Beautiful Skars”. His lead single and visual, “The Most”, is out now.
