After receiving support from BBC 1Xtra, Wonderland Magazine and Complex UK, UK based rapper Piers James is set to drop his newest single Villain on 16th March. Featuring a hypnotic, hard hitting beat and quality British rap, the new single lives up to expectation following on from previous successful releases.
Having supported the likes of Masta Ace and Ghostface Killah (Wu Tang Clan), Piers James has built a successful career despite facing difficulties being accepted into the urban scene early on his career. Beginning 2018 strong, his first release of the year ‘Done Properly’ was premiered on DJ Target’s 1Xtra show and went on to receive support from BBC Radio 6, BBC Introducing, GRM Daily and achieved over 80k streams across platforms in just under a month.
Hailing from Ipswich, UK, Piers cites artists such as J Dilla, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde as shaping his musical background and influencing his writing and delivery. Produced, mixed and mastered by Piers James himself, and written in collaboration with UK hip-hop artist Dream Mclean, his newest single Villain is a prime example of distinctive British hip-hop, which presents a fresh urban sound whilst still drawing inspiration from old-school legends.
