RADAR: XamVolo – Old Soul

XamVolo

Following on from the release of his critically acclaimed debut Chirality EP, hotly-tipped Liverpool based singer, songwriter and producer XamVolo releases his single Old Soul.

Written by Xam and produced by himself and Bruno Major, Old Soul channels an eclectic mix of old-school soul and jazz while radiating a chilled, contemporary electronic tinged vibe. Plucky strings, warm synth stabs, and a lazy beat pair beautifully with Xam’s commanding vocals.

Speaking about the track, XamVolo says:

“‘Old Soul’ is meant to be very pure; a clean slate at the start of the upcoming journey. The character speaks from the headspace of someone with few worries, living with the freedom to focus on and enjoy the simpler things in life. For now, their world is a near-utopia – occupied by trivial pursuits and good vibes – that is, until a certain life-changing encounter…”

At the age of 23, XamVolo is wise beyond his years. A true artist, he oversees every element of his music, which he describes as “a messy mind over raw, dark jazz grooves”. He’s been championed by a wealth of tastemakers – from Annie Mac, Gilles Peterson, Huw Stephens and MistaJam through to The 405 and Complex (to name but a few) – and sought after by a number of notable producers, including Paul Phamous (Channel Orange).

The ex-architecture student is currently dividing his time between festival appearances (see dates below) and sessions in the studio as he works on his debut album due to be released by Universal worldwide.
