Nigeria’s newest viral sensation Salle has officially released her long-awaited debut EP, Only Sad People Smile, via United Masters. At just 21, Salle has quickly become one of Africa’s most promising young voices, blending vulnerability and strength in music that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
The 7-track project builds on the momentum of her breakout single “Icon”, and follow-ups “Countdown” and “Underskirt”. Written entirely by Salle, the EP explores themes of resilience, vulnerability, and self-expression, offering listeners a powerful look at the emotional depth of a young artist wise beyond her years.
Speaking on the release, Salle shares:
“Smiling was free therapy until the side effects included people thinking I’m fine. So I wrote all the emotions I wasn’t able to freely dwell in into melodies and now we have Only Sad People Smile.”
Rooted in her poet-like narration and raw honesty, the EP transforms her inner battles into vivid storytelling, cementing Salle as one of Nigeria’s brightest rising stars.
