Serious Klein has teased fans with another taster from his forthcoming debut LP, in the form of the surprise drop ‘These Days‘. The track is a homage to black women whilst taking a glimpse at the deceptive nature of social media.
“These days” is a homage to the black woman, I believe that there’s no creature on earth that’s closer to God than the black woman or the woman in general; men might give, but woman create life, so I am trying to push that a little on the album. It’s also a glimpse on how deceiving social media actually is and how we confuse recognition with confidence as in the likes and the dm’s.
We often end up on pages, judging the profile without knowing anything about him or her and the profile also gives out impressions that don’t match his or her mindset at all. It’s like following a massive trend with all the hair, the fashion, the makeup and even the surgery pages, as if somebody sets up how to live life and we’re just following but get confused as soon as it comes to real life. We don’t really deal with real life problems, we put no effort in fixing or finding ourselves because social media kind of does that for us now.
You got women that look like the baddest but they’re actually angels, sitting in church every Sunday and vice versa.
When I wrote it I was in the studio with Shove Island we made the beat a while before I started writing, it was a back and forth type of working day, ‘cos I didn’t like the melody at the beginning, so I took time and sometimes I took breaks while writing, guess what happened? Yup..I ended up on Instagram and the topic of this one chose itself.”
