‘Beloved’ features on Shashe’s debut EP ‘Woven’, which is out later this year. Shashe’s sound has the hues of soul, hip hop and pop, with Lauren Hill, Miguel and The XX heavy influences.
Going by stage name ‘Shashe’ (pronounced Sha-she), Emma Ratyal-Brooks is a singer songwriter and producer hailing from Leeds in Northern England. Sneaking forbidden listens at Top of the Pops as a child (as pop music was banned in the house), at university Emma began performing with Today’s Mathematics, a Leeds based nu-jazz group. Formerly under the name of Emma Shaheen, her solo track ‘Life is Beautiful’ featured on BBC introducing Radio 1, and she later collaborated with regular BBC Detroit Producer Tall Black Guy on ‘Sun will Shine’. In 2014 Emma switched North England for North London, and now as Shashe, she shows her evolution and emergence as a producer in her own right, bringing together soulful vocals with a production style all of her own.
