Simi has released her eagerly awaited new album, Lost And Found, available now via her independent label, Studio Brat. The 14-track project explores the healing power of love through stunning reverb-drenched melodies, showcasing Simi’s authentic musical evolution after a profound period of self-discovery.
Describing the album as “a beautiful blend of my roots and the things that I’ve discovered along the way,” Simi engineered and co-mixed all songs, except for the title track, which she mixed herself. Her vocal dexterity and unique approach to melody shine throughout the album.
The opening track, “Lost And Found,” is a delicate piano ballad where Simi reconnects with her younger self, reflecting on her journey as a mother, woman, and musician in her prime. The album transitions into a more experimental afropop sound with “Miracle Worker,” featuring Lojay.
Collaborations include Ladipoe on “Know You II,” a sequel to their viral hit “Know You,” Bella Shmurda on the atmospheric “Alafia,” and Simi’s childhood hero Asa on “Messiah.” Other highlights include “All I Want,” an upbeat love-seekers anthem, and “Borrow Me Your Baby” featuring charismatic verses from Nigerian rapper Falz. The album also features a stellar collaboration with Tiwa Savage on “Men Are Crazy,” which has garnered support from BBC 1Xtra, CNN, The Independent, NYLON, and OkayAfrica.
The album closes with “Jowo,” a tribute to Nigerian legend Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, celebrating love in the Yoruba language.
Lost And Found continues Simi’s hot streak in 2024, following last year’s acclaimed ballad “Stranger” and collaborations with Candy Bleakz and Adekunle Gold. Notably, she also joined Grammy-winning superstar Alicia Keys on her North American “Keys To The Summer” tour.
