Southend’s Sonny Green recently headlined in hishometownn to celebrate the release of his latest music project, Unfinished Business EP. Sonny has been active in the UK music scene since the grimey pirate radio days and has adapted alongside the genre into a complete showman.
Sonny, formerly known as SGB, made his first big mark in the UK grime scene back in 2016 with Grime Is Punk Vol 1. Following the huge response and love shown for volume 1 the second volume soon followed which lead to Sonny being invited to record a live Maida Vale session for BBC Introducing. Now no stranger to live performances, with over 50 live shows across Europe, after being invited to support The Asian Dub Foundation on tour following a show in Tottenham and has opened for the likes of Pete Doherty.
Unfinished Business starts off with the grimey banger Gratitude Game (video above) which see’s Sonny in his element firing flows over the dirty beat with sharp, witty lyricism. This is that aggy yute that The Guardian described as he ‘delivers grime with a big, toothy, shit-eating grin.’ Truly combining his love and talent for spoken word with grime in a dope unique style. This EP ends off showing off how versatile Sonny can be with a more relaxed reggae-dub vibe with the track Go Through. The project on a whole is a solid piece of craftmanship from a unqiue talented artist, and with a producer supporting him like AS.IF Kid who makes that Sonny Green sound, Sonny is coming to take the game!
The 5 track EP is highly rated and this project gets a solid 5/5, we strongly co-sign this artist here at H-Wing.
