N.W.A. Biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Rakes In $24.2 Million
It’s been less than 24 hours since the official release of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, and the F. Gary Gray-directed project has already reportedly reeled in a, whopping estimated $24.2 million, spread out across 2,757 North American theaters.
Now, a new report from Deadline estimates that the film is expected to soar above $59M by the time opening weekend closes. The incredibly successful opening marks the “fourth highest opening day for an August release.”
The film’s success is also attributed to strong, catchy viral marketing as well as the release of Dr. Dre’s first album in years – Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre.
The movie is set to hit the UK on the 28th of Aug and I’m patiently waiting to watch it.
