$VN are back to end the summer with their latest offering dubbed ‘Put In Work’ – a vibrant new single that resonates with club hoppers and hard workers alike and also showcases the unique and creative style of the duo.
“Put In Work” chronicles $VN’s grind in the music industry: the ups and downs that come with being artists. Rapping and singing over an infectious self-produced instrumental, the Canadian duo exchange bars about honing in on their craft, their past mistakes, and their future ambitions. The instrumental features pounding 808s and drums, layered with vintage electronic synths.
In a press release SAGS explains, “This one came together quickly. The instrumental originally had some basic drums, a piano and the rising eerie synth that you hear in the intro. After laying out all the lyrics and melodies, we added a lot of new instrumentation to make the song transition perfectly from each of the verses and choruses. We know everyone will be out in social settings for summer’s end so we wanted to give listeners something that would uplift and motivate their spirits. The fall is usually when everyone’s starting to get back into the real grind, coming off that summer high, and this song fits into that setting perfectly as well. We know all our fans are grinding and putting in work, so we wanted to give them a relatable anthem that they could listen to whenever they need some motivation.”
There’s definitely no lack of motivation from the dynamic duo, having penned their sixth release of the year. $VN began releasing self-produced singles in 2018 and their genre-infusing music has charted on SoundCloud’s “New and Hot Canadian R&B”, aired on major Canadian radio stations such as Toronto’s Hip-Hop Flow 93.5, and been featured on popular Spotify and Audiomack playlists. Alongside their musical endeavors, the pair are working on building their brand and collective, MØD. Watch out for more from $VN in Fall 2021 and beyond.
