Following the success of their recent collaboration with ROE, Tebi Rex take a darker, louder turn on their third release of the year ‘Deadman II’.
As with the previous singles ‘Oh It Hurts’ and ‘Hanging With Trees’, the track reveals another aspect of their latest narrative – a story with an enigmatic tree at its heart, guiding the protagonist through a journey of challenges and redemption. ‘Deadman II’ paints a glib picture of modern Ireland – including austerity, racism, imposter syndrome, and death – before ultimately deciding that it’s going to be okay in the end.
So far in 2021 the duo have played online showcases for festivals in Europe (ESNS), US (SxSW) and UK (The Great Escape) as well as a memorable Tebi Breakfast session for The Line Of Best Fit’s Off The Road series. Having already built an international audience on the back of their appearance on the Normal People soundtrack and debut record ‘The Young Will Eat The Old’, they have attracted recent praise from the likes of Earmilk, Dork, Tirade World, Clash and Trench, as well as major radio play at home. Spotify playlists have included New Music Friday, A Breath Of Fresh Eire, Alternative Hip-Hop and Soapbox.
Tebi Rex will release their new album ‘It’s Gonna Be Okay’ later this year.
