Teni, who has one of the most original and exciting voices in the industry right now, has released a music video for her latest hit track “No Days Off” directed by Cruel Santino (now renamed SANTI), a fellow Nigerian musician and filmmaker.
The ‘No Days Off’ video pays tribute to the various subcultures Teni encountered while recording the song earlier in the year in cities such as Lagos, London (including a corner shop and the tube), and Los Angeles (including the famous Kobe Bryant basketball court). The Afropop queen, who is the life of the party wherever she goes, is the embodiment of the ‘No Days Off’ spirit.
Teni comments on the video, saying, “This one was special. I wanted listeners to feel the same excitement and vitality I felt while making these recordings in Lagos, London, and Los Angeles, he said.
And, she says, “I also met some wonderful young creative and passionate women, from Tiktokers to models, doing what they love and truly not caring what anyone thinks, but also having fun with it, and that’s what ‘No Days Off’ means. You put in a lot of effort, keep your attention squarely on yourself with the help of your friends and family, and have a great time doing it.
There are ZERO vacation days.
Released on May 12th, ‘No Days Off’ was a dedication to Teni’s love of basketball and her favourite player, the late Kobe Bryant; it was played during a Lakers game, trended on Twitter, and charted on numerous DSPs, including Apple Music and Spotify. According to Rolling Stone, “[NDO] has a message of perseverance, but is grimily positive and set to a beat that is darker and more frenetic than her previous works,” making it one of the year’s greatest songs.
