U2 taps Kendrick Lamar for their new song “American Soul.”
If you told me at the beginning of the year U2 and Kendrick Lamar would be regular collaborators, I would’ve asked you who laced the blunt. The Irish rockers guested on Kendrick’s DAMN. album cut “XXX.” K. Dot returned the favor by delivering a spoken word outro on U2’s “Get Out Of Your Own Way.” And now we’ve got this third collaboration called “American Soil.”
I guess you could call this the alternate version of “XXX”; Bono repeats the refrain, “It’s not a place, this country is to me a sound of drum and bass, you close your eyes to look around.” while Kendrick pops up with a brief appearance during the intro.
