Tottenham rapper Avelino has just released his latest single, “Champion,” featuring Youngs Teflon and Blanco. This track is a bonus addition to Avelino’s debut album, “God Save The Streets,” which earlier this year, achieved the top spot on the UK Independent Chart. Avelino’s album was also recently honored at the AIM Independent Music Awards, where it won Independent Album of The Year.
Avelino’s music often carries a powerful message, and he took the opportunity during his award acceptance speech to emphasize the album’s importance. He spoke passionately about the album’s inspiration, saying, “No matter how much of an incredible win this is, it’s still the product of great loss that will never be recovered. As an artist, my job is to reflect the times that I’m living in. And the times that I’ve been called to reflect are times where human bodies in my ends and the streets up and down the country are dropping like flies.”
He continued by emphasizing that his music is a reflection of the harsh realities faced by young people, stating, “This is about thousands of young lives that have been lost and that we continue to lose at the hands of violence in the streets, and even to the hands of the police.”
“Champion” is a significant addition to Avelino’s discography and continues to amplify the important message he carries in his music.
