Bandokay announces the arrival of his debut solo mixtape “M.A.R.K” with the release of new single “Rivals” with Headie One. “Rivals”, which comes via No Requests, sees two of OFB’s most revered rappers go back to back for an explosive collaboration. The track boasts an experimental drill instrumental which interpolates the use of trumpets to create an instant classic feeling, over which Bandokay and Headie One poetically rap about life on the roads. The track’s visual amplifies its thematic sentiments, with director Tyrus creating a cinematic world in which the two rappers become rival stakeholders in an underground boxing syndicate. With both Bandokay and Headie One harnessing clever wordplay and dynamic flow patterns to elucidate the track’s overarching story, “Rivals” showcases the best of their respective proficiencies as they team up in delivering an atmospheric offering that is equally as classy as it is punchy.
“Rivals” follows the release of singles, “Memories, “Too Many Lies featuring LD”, “Live”, and “The Jungle featuring Pressa”, which are all set to appear on Bandokay’s 21-track mixtape “M.A.R.K”, which launches for pre-order at 8PM (BST) tonight. Across the mixtape, we’ll see Bandokay journey from boy to man, as he pushes the limits of his characteristic drill sound to tell a succession of anecdotal stories tied to his upbringing and coming of age. As one of Tottenham’s most promising rap exports, and with the legacy of the iconic OFB collective bolstering his rise, Bandokay’s first full-length solo endeavour arrives to dispel the folklore about his origins as an artist, as well as showcase his undeniable proficiency as a globally facing rising rap star.
