Roddy Ricch opens the show with a performance of ‘High Fashion’ and his smash hit ‘The Box‘, both cuts from his last album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial. He showed his support for Black Live Matter while doing it too. Check it out below.
John Legend Performs ‘Never Break’
Following Roddy Ricch’s show opener which you can watch here, John Legend performed his song ‘Never Break’ which closes his new album Bigger Love.
Megan The Stallion Performs “Girls In The Hood”
One of the biggest performers at the 2020 BET Awards tonight is Megan Thee Stallion who just released her single ‘Girls In The Hood. She performed it, along with her song ‘Savage‘, the remix of which of course shot to #1 after Beyonce jumped on it.
DaBaby & Roddy Ricch Perform “Rockstar”
Roddy Ricch is having an incredible year so as well as opening the 2020 BET Awards with a performance of ‘High Fashion’ and ‘The Box’ that you can check out here, he also joined DaBaby for a performance of their smash ‘Rockstar‘. The pair delivered a Black Liver Matter-inspired remix after the original version topped the charts.
Jennifer Hudson ‘Young, Gifted & Black’ Performance
Jennifer Hudson took her opportunity to perform Aretha Franklin’s ‘Young, Gifted & Black’ from her album of the same name. Watch her rendition below.
Lil Wayne Performs “Kobe Bryant”
Lil Wayne could have easily performed one of the bonus tracks from the new deluxe edition of Funeral tonight but instead, he performed his classic song ‘Kobe Bryant’, which is actually called ‘He Can’t Guard Me’. You might remember that he performed it at Kobe’s 2009 birthday party.
He performed the first verse and then performed a never-before-heard verse written just for this performance. There are highlights of the late legend interspersed too. Watch it below.
Anderson .Paak & Jay Rock Perform “Lockdown”
Anderson .Paak and Jay Rock put out a very timely single called ‘Lockdown‘ a couple of weeks ago. The audio-only featured vocals from Anderson .Paak but the video had a guest verse from Jay Rock.
Tonight, it only made sense that the two linked up to do a performance of it for this year’s lockdown edition of the BET Awards. You can check it out in full below.
Summer Walker & Usher Perform “Come Thru”
Summer Walker and Usher delivered one of the best performances of the night at the 2020 BET Awards.
The two had collaborated on the song ‘Come Thru‘ last year which sampled Usher’s 1997 song ‘You Make Me Wanna’. It appeared on Summer’s successful debut album Over It. Summer first kicked off her set sitting barefoot in a pink dress and belting out her song ‘Session 32’ while rocking the guitar. The R&B legend then joined her from another blue-themed room to deliver their popular duet.
