ASAP Rocky Visits The Breakfast Club; Clears Up Controversial Black Lives Matter Comments
In the midst of the recent murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police brutality, A$AP Rocky was the subject of controversy on social media last week. The Harlem rapper/model did an interview in 2015 with Timeout, where he stated “I don’t wanna talk about no fu**ing Ferguson and shit because I don’t live over there! I live in fu**ing Soho and Beverly Hills. I can’t relate. I’m in the studio; I’m in these fashion studios; I’m in these bi**hes’ drawers. I’m not doing anything outside of that. That’s my life.”
The comments resurfaced last week as people fired back at Rocky for his insensitive considering he’s a black male, from Harlem, and a figure in pop culture which people look up to. A$AP Rocky requested to appear on The Breakfast Club to open up on those comments, where he tells Charlamagne Tha God that he was misquoted and the person conducting the interview twisted his words trying to push an agenda.
With a heavy heart, Rocky also touched on the various issues across America affecting him, what he’s trying to do to make a difference, rumors that he prefers to date white women, becoming the new face of Dior, appearing on will.i.am’s upcoming star-studded remake of “Where’s The Love” and more.
